RNDM Pilgrimage
Dear Parents and Friends of Sacred Heart Girls’ College Students,
The RNDM Sisters warmly invite you to join a meaningful pilgrimage in 2025, tracing the mission journey of Euphrasie Barbier, the foundress of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions. This pilgrimage represents a unique opportunity to explore the spirituality of RNDM missionary life while enriching your own spiritual journey and enjoying some sightseeing along the way.
The pilgrimage will commence on Thursday, 25 September 2025, at the RNDM School, Notre Dame St Pierre, in Charenton, Paris. It will conclude in London at the Sacred Heart Language School on Thursday, 9 October 2025.
Itinerary Highlights:
- Paris to Caen: Pilgrims will travel by coach to Caen, the birthplace of Euphrasie, with a scenic stop in Giverny to visit Monet’s beautiful gardens
- Rouen: Explore the history of St. Joan of Arc during a visit to Rouen.
- Weekend in Caen: The first weekend will be spent in Caen, including a trip to the nearby D-Day Beaches and a visit to the renowned Bayeux Tapestry.
- Lisieux: We will celebrate Mass at the Carmelite Convent of St. Therese before continuing to Chaumont, located on the Marne Canal. Nearby, in the village of Cuves, Euphrasie began her religious life at age 19.
- Langres: Enjoy lunch in this ancient walled city before heading to St. Rambert enBugey, an RNDM retreat centre nestled in the Jura mountains, where we will pause for two days.
- Lyon: The French segment concludes in Lyon, a city rich in history and devotion to Mary, where Euphrasie established the Congregation in 1861.
- London: From Lyon, we will fly to London, learning about Euphrasie’s missionary work among the working poor and visiting her final resting place in Sturry, near Canterbury.
This pilgrimage is not just about exploring historical sites; it is a chance to deepen your spiritual life and connect with the mission of the RNDM Sisters.
