On Thursday 17 October the Year 12 VCE VM class celebrated their achievements over the past two years at the inaugural VCE VM Showcase. The students organised the entire event with only minimal support from their teachers. They created invitations for their teachers and families, planned, shopped and prepared an amazing afternoon tea, and prepared spaces to showcase examples of their work from each subject.
The guests were so impressed with the presentations of their work, including the ‘Seeds of the Heart’ vegetable garden, their Work-Related Skills portfolio, their delicious-looking gingerbread houses and their literacy brochures.
The highlight of the afternoon was the photo montage that showcased all the wonderful learning opportunities experienced by the students over their VCE VM journey. Our first group of VCE VM students to graduate – the OGs – have been an inspiring group of young people. Their teachers, including their Year 11 teachers, many of whom came back from leave to attend the event, spoke about how rewarding it was to work with this group and how proud they were of them. These students have flourished in countless ways and their confidence and enthusiasm for the future are genuinely inspiring.
They have come so far, and in many ways, this is just the beginning. We will miss them. As they step out into the world full of possibilities, we look forward to seeing them continually shine, each in their own unique ways.
They will certainly be missed.
