Every sporting contest involves numbers, goals, points, distance and time to determine the outcome. The following numbers tell the story of Sport at Sacred Heart Girls’ College in 2024:
1,744 participations in Sport by SHGC students (Inter School Sport and House Sport)
356 students represented SHGC in one or more interschool sports
251 lunchtime trials and training sessions
221 students signed up for Volleyball, just surpassing Netball (217) for the first time as the most popular sport
83.5 teams represented SHGC. The half team is the SHGC/Salesian College mixed netball team that competed in the inaugural ACC competition, making the Grand Final.
47 buses booked
36 staff coached a SHGC sport team
33 students ran the 5km or 10km race at the Melbourne Marathon Festival
28 teams made it to a Grand Final
20 sport venues visited across Melbourne and Geelong
18 different sports offered to students
17 first place finishes at CGSAV Swimming, up from just one in 2023

9 SHGC Swimming and Athletics records broken by Ava (4 x Swimming), Emma (3 x Triple Jump), Molly (1 x High Jump) and Madeleine (1 x Swimming)
8 first place finishes at CGSAV Athletics along with 19 Second places
5 SEGAP championship teams, Inter B Basketball, Inter Tennis, Inter A&B Volleyball and Junior B Volleyball
4 students represented Victoria at their chosen sport, Cleo (Australian rules football), Elise (softball), Jenna (softball), Palak (archery)
