Always striving upwards

Indonesian Exchange Students

For the past week, several exchange students from Regina Pacis School in Jakarta were welcomed into our homes and school community. A few Sacred Heart students from Years 10, 11 and 12 hosted a total of eight students from Regina Pacis, with all eight students bringing with them a unique set of experiences, cultures and perspectives. This opportunity allowed us to show them what school life in Australia is like, as well as what makes our community a welcoming and special place. Whether it be trying Vegemite for the first time, learning Australian Slang or tasting iconic Australian foods like meat pies, each moment became a precious memory.

We got to experience shopping, sharing meals, as well as adventuring through the city together, building connections and creating unforgettable memories. These experiences not only highlighted the differences between our cultures, but also showed us how small, shared moments can create deep connections and lasting friendships.

On the final day, a farewell party was organised to celebrate our time together, where we reminisced about our favourite moments from the week. Reflecting on the experience, hosting the exchange students was a truly rewarding and enjoyable opportunity, that allowed us to build meaningful connections and create lasting memories.
