Year 7 Camp

Year 7 Discovery Camp at Ilula Camp and Retreat

In February, Year 7 students embarked on their ‘Discovery Camp’ at Ilula Camp and Retreat in Shoreham. With warm weather and a beautiful natural bush setting, it was the perfect opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build friendships and enjoy the great outdoors.

Students participated in a variety of activities designed to encourage teamwork, resilience and confidence. They tackled high ropes courses, climbed trees and worked together in team-building challenges. They had the chance to try paddleboarding on the lake, testing their balance and coordination. A trip to Point Leo Beach added to their adventures, with students learning to surf and exploring the fascinating rock pools along the shore.

Students also learned the traditional skill of damper making, gaining hands-on experience in bushcraft. Accommodation included a night in a lodge and another in a large tent, giving students a taste of camping and the adventure of sleeping under canvas. For many, it was their first introduction to outdoor living.

The camp was a memorable and rewarding experience, offering students the chance to step outside their comfort zones, create lasting friendships and taking part in exciting new challenges they will remember for years to come.
