Congratulations to Amelia (Year 12), who was a prize winner in the Catholic Education Week Creative Arts Exhibition 2025.
Her artwork, entitled "Duality in a Pot", was selected from a state-wide range of Catholic schools.
Amelia's description of her work is this:
"Combining themes of light and dark, this whimsical sculpture takes on a traditional Athenian style of vase. Inspired by artist, Grayson Perry, I aimed to directly contrast contemporary themes with established techniques. The vibrant floral depictions counterbalance the unlit base, which represent night. It as if the figure is reaching into the light, attempting to escape the dark realities. Through the contrast between the pockets of illumination and the dark areas, the piece evokes a sense of longing and yearning. The figure represented tries to reach the bright blooms, fleeing the murky dead of night."
Congratulations to Amelia, and to her teacher, Mr Martin Quinlan for this wonderful achievement.
