Always striving upwards

Technologies Week

This year’s Technologies Week featured a dynamic blend of hands-on learning, creative challenges and inspiring guest speakers, offering students the opportunity to explore technology in exciting and innovative ways. Some of the highlights of the week were the Virtual reality experience, Minecraft activity and Tech Kahoot; all run by students as well as a craft activity where students made Kusudama Japanese flowers.

Our guest presenters included past students who spoke about "Why study IT", Dr Timothy Wiley from RMIT spoke about Artificial intelligence and brought one of the robots in that competes in RoboCup every year. Professor Monica Whitty from Monash University spoke about studying Information Technology and Cybersecurity beyond high school and past student, Angelica Iuliano, a pastry chef baked maple bacon tarts in front of an audience of staff and students.

Every aspect of the week encouraged students to think creatively and apply their knowledge in practical ways. The mix of tech talks and food demos added a unique flavour to the event, showcasing how technology integrates into various fields, including the culinary arts.

Technologies Week has once again highlighted the importance of nurturing a passion for STEM and encouraging our students to embrace the opportunities that technology presents for the future.
